PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

HOW HARD CAN IT BE?

  • find a tenant
  • collect rent
  • chase arrears
  • disburse funds to owners on tie
  • attend to repairs and maintenance
  • conduct routine inspections
  • implement rent increases
  • sign up lease renewals

It’s true, in theory, the core fundamentals of Property Management should be simple and straight forward. In reality however, most people forget to factor in two very key elements:

  • human nature
  • the minefield that is Victoria’s Residential Tenancies Act

Unfortunately, not everyone has the same definition of ‘logical’, ’respectful’, ’fair’ and ‘reasonable’. Add to this a very broad Residential Tenancies Act that is so often open to interpretation and abuse. Before you know it, situations that should be very simple can and do turn into complex and costly disputes.
